Environmental Sustainability at Amarr - Preserving the Environment & Natural Resources

Environmental Sustainability at Amarr

Since our founding in 1951, Amarr Company has understood the importance of its role in sustaining resources to ensure a positive future for generations to come. As a leader in the garage door industry, we strive to partner with like-minded suppliers whose sustainability goals align with ours. In conjunction with our efforts to preserve natural resources, we also strive to engage in energy efficient manufacturing processes while choosing green products for our garage doors and implementing recycling methods to ensure we meet our defined sustainability goals.

Partnering with Suppliers with the Same Sustainability Goals

Our commitment to a more sustainable world begins with our suppliers. By choosing local suppliers in multiple industries such as corrugate, foam and plastics, we reduce carbon emissions from shipping. When local suppliers are unavailable, we turn to energy-efficient rail transportation companies. Although we recognize the importance of choosing efficient transportation methods, we also choose suppliers whose internal product selections include recyclable containers and shipping products used during transportation.

Energy Efficient Manufacturing

Amarr Company uses a fully integrated software application during manufacturing to allow efficient use of production schedules and to minimize changeovers. This structured process reduces scrap waste and additional costs associated with multiple set ups. Our efficient methods extend beyond the manufacturing process to our sophisticated infrastructures. With zoned heating and cooling, skylights and low-use areas without temperature regulations, we lessen the impact on the environment. By operating battery powered forklifts, modern conveyer systems and cart systems, Amarr achieves optimal energy efficiency.

Green Garage Doors

With steel being the most recycled material in the world, Amarr Company takes advantage of this resource by using steel as the major component of the garage doors manufactured. We take it a step further by using recycled steel in 90% of our garage door manufacturing. Aluminum parts, which are highly recyclable, are also used for some of the garage door components. As part of our sustainability efforts, we encourage our steel suppliers to participate in a pallet and coil core recycle program that Amarr Company initiated to save trees and landfill space.  The polystyrene insulation we use is recyclable and all of our door insulations are CFC, HFC, & HCFC free while having zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and zero Global Warming Potential (GWP).

Recycling Methods and Recyclable Products

The polystyrene foam used in our insulated door sections is recyclable, environmentally friendly, and contains no CFCs, HFCs, HCFCs or formaldehyde. The foam is locally produced from recyclable post-consumer goods. During the production process, foam is bonded together to reduce scrap, and small pieces are used for insulation around glazed sections to cut down on waste. We also have internal processes that support our sustainability efforts, such as recycling of oil products in enclosed containers to eliminate run-off into streams and rivers.

Sustainability Beyond our Products

Although Amarr Company strives to do all we can in ways of sustainability in our material selections and manufacturing processes, we take our sustainability initiatives to the next level. After our products leave our manufacturing plants, deliveries are routed for efficiency, resulting in fewer trucks on the road. With distribution throughout North America to 4,000+ Amarr dealers, we provide stellar customer service while minimizing emissions and depleting unnecessary resources.

As pioneers in garage door innovation, Amarr Company strives to be the industry leader, setting the bar to achieve optimal sustainability whenever possible.
